Universalizing vs. Ethnic Religions
A universalizing religion is defined by its number of followers, distribution, and spread. The rapid spread of a universalizing religion results in a widespread religion, with concentrations throughout the world, and therefore the religion spreads to all races and ethnicities, rather than being confined to one. An ethnic religion is a religion that appeals to a specific group of people and does not widely spread past that group of people, resulting in the confinement of that religion to a specific ethnic group with little converts, rather than universalizing religions which attract converts from across the world. A universalizing religion appeals to many groups of people and spreads throughout the world, while an ethnic religion stays within an ethnic group and does not spread much past that.
